Tutorial: Step by step

Step 1 Acer Iconia Tab 10

Characteristics:
Dimensions: 17.1 x 25.6 x 0.9 cm.
Weight: 508 g.
Display: 1280x800, 10 inches.
Processor: 1.3GHz Quad-core.
Memory: 16GB, RAM: 1GB,
Front camera : 2MP.
Rear camera : 5MP.
Battery: 5910 mAh.
Operating system: Android 4.4 KitKat.

Step 2 Remove back casing

We will start by removing the back cover. For this, we will introduce a barb or another flat tool between it and the frame and we will slide it around the contour, releasing the notches that hold it.

Step 3 Disconnect screen flex

Now we will disconnect the flexes of the digitizer and the display. We lift the fastening tabs and disconnect them.

Step 4 Heat screen

The screen is attached to the chassis by a thin strip of double-sided adhesive, located all around the contour. We will heat the glass to soften the adhesive and peel off easily.

We suggest 2 methods:

  1. Hot Glass (Recommended): Heat blanket for microwave (See instructions).
  2. Hot air nozzle: Incuded in the SMD welding stations.

Step 5 Take off screen

With the hot screen, we will introduce a prong between it and the chassis to take off. We will slide the barb around the entire contour of the tablet.

We will avoid the area where the digitizer flex is, since we could damage it.

Step 6 Fullscreen

Now we only have to slide the digitizer flex through the hole in the chassis.
