Tutorial: Step by step

Step 1 Opening

Before starting make sure that the mobile is off.

Remove the 2 Pentalobe screws on the bottom of the iPhone.

Step 2

For the opening of the iPhone we suggest this tool with suction cups, it is easy to use and will avoid unnecessary damages.

Simply hold the iPhone with the suction cups, just above the "Home" button and press the tool to open it.

Step 3

If you do not have the suction cup tool, you can also do it manually.

Glue a suction cup just above the "Home" button and pull up while holding and prying the joint with the plastic opening tool.

If you pull too hard you can break the flex cable of the fingerprint reader.

Step 4

Remove the metal shield covering the flex connector from the fingerprint reader.

Step 5

Disconnect the flex cable from the fingerprint reader. This will allow you to separate the screen except the upper part, still attached to the base plate by the flex cables.

Step 6 Baseboard connectors

Remove the metal shield covering the connectors, held by 4 Phillips screws.

Step 7 screen

Disconnect the flex cables from the motherboard and separate the screen.

If the screen to be replaced has no components (headset, camera, home button ...), continue with the following steps.

Step 8 Home button with fingerprint reader

Remove the Phillips screw that holds the flex cable and set it aside.

Step 9

Remove the metal support held by 2 Phillips screws.

Step 10

Take off the flex and the black rubber that surrounds the button with the flat part of the opening tool.

Step 11

Finally, separate the Home button next to the flex circuit.

Step 12 Handset

Remove the metal support from the handset held by 2 Phillips screws.

Step 13

Remove the handset.

Step 14 Flex with front camera, light sensor and microphone

Slowly take off the flex with the tip of the tweezers.

Step 15

Carefully peel off each component.

Step 16

Peel off the adhesive contact.

Step 17 screen

Remove the 5 Phillips screws that hold the metal shield.

Step 18

Finally remove the metal shield.

If you need to change only the glass window (in case of breakage, for example), consult the display separation guide:
