Guide with all the necessary steps to change the motherboard of the Sony Playstation 4 yourself.

Step 1 PlayStation 4.

Before starting, turn off and disconnect the console.

Step 2 Opening

Remove the adhesives that cover the Torx screws that hold the lid of the housing.

These stickers are the guarantee seal. This will be lost when manipulating them.

Step 3

Remove the 4 Torx screws to open the housing.

Step 4

Remove the lower cover by lifting it as shown in the pictures.

Step 5 Power supply

The power supply is held by 3 Torx screws (marked in red) and 2 Phillips screws (marked in blue).

Step 6

Lift the power supply with your hands and place it on the right side to reveal the connector that connects it to the base plate.

Step 7

Unplug the power supply from the motherboard and remove it.

Step 8 Motherboard connections.

Disconnect and remove the data bus that communicates with the motherboard.

Step 9

Disconnect the coaxial cable from the Wifi antenna on the motherboard.

Turn off the power of the Blu-Ray drive.

Step 10 Blu-Ray drive

Remove the 4 Torx screws that hold the Blu-Ray disc drive.

Step 11

Remove the Wifi antenna.

Step 12

To remove the Blu-Ray drive, push it up with the prying tool.

Step 13 Hard Disk

To access the hard disk, it is only necessary to remove the corresponding part of the casing.

To do this, push it with your fingers as shown in the images.

Step 14

Remove the 2 Torx screws (marked in red) that hold the remaining part of the housing.

Remove the hard drive tray, held by a Phillips screw (marked in blue).

Step 15 Motherboard

Remove the remaining cover to access the motherboard.

Step 16

Remove the 11 Torx screws that hold the metal tray on the motherboard.

We must also unscrew the two that hold the heat sink of the GPU.

Step 17

Unplug the power cord and control the ventilation.

Step 18

Finally, remove the motherboard.
